The Shell Tour: My Snails Experience NYC 12/16
You see, I live for Dubstep music. Dubstep as a whole has been the rock that has held me together throughout the tough times in my life. As any genre, it evolving. The ONLY way to experience Vomitstep is on The Shell Tour.
If you didn’t check out his album, The Shell, what are you doing? See what we thought of it here.
Fun Fact: Snail’s Song Frogbass was featured in M. Night Shyamalan Split
Snails is more than his genre, Vomitstep….
Canadian based DJ/Producer Snails aka Frédérik Durand has revamped dubstep into his own signature sound called Vomitstep, which includes frog-like gurgles. It is one of a kind in entirety. He isn’t just about the music. What makes him a perfect blend of an artist is what he does for his fans. It all started with Tacos.
Tacos, Fans, More Tacos
From Taco parties across his Shell tour from meeting every single one of his fans, Snails is a talented producer with a heart to show for it. My sister’s experience with Snails was best explained as talking to a friend to how friendly and inviting he was.
Recently bringing my sister into EDM, she was able to meet Snails at his Taco Party at Terminal 5, thanks to a good friend. Being her first time at an official show was a great way to start her journey into the EDM scene.
Pre Shell Tour Experience NYC: YOOKiE, FUNTCASE & 12th Planet
Terminal 5 is one of my favorite venues in NYC. On the more spacious side, Terminal 5 was the perfect place to hold The Shell Tour. It’s so spacious and gives you enough breathing room. With two floors and a smoking area, the venue is perfect in size and to dance aroung and go crazy.
Heavy, Filthy, Grimy.
The main reason why I enjoyed it so much was the lineup in NYC, which was YOOKiE, Funtcase, 12th Planet and Snails. With such a powerful lineup throughout the country, this was NOT a show to miss.
YOOKiE has been one of my favorite duo’s since I saw them at Webster. Bringing the bass and torque, YOOKiE always throws down and is a duo you MUST look out for!
Funtcase, was the one who got me into headbanging. He’s the #1 headbanger in my opinion. Seeing Cookie Monsta b2b Funtcase last Halloween in NYC sealed my fate to my death.
12th Planet was a first for me. I had to make it a goal to throw down. He was great and kept the crowd going. Of all of the dubstep artists they could have picked, I’m happy I had the opportunity to break my beck to 12th Planet.
SNAILS: The Highlight of the Night
The Shell Tour in NYC it was nothing short of a dubstep dream for me. It was my first time experiencing Snails as a whole. He exceeded all my expectations as he continuously threw down. The first time I ever saw Snails was for five minutes at EDC Las Vegas. It was one of the worst mistakes I’ve made because I should have stayed for the WHOLE time.
My boyfriend made a special trip from North Carolina to experience The Shell Tour with me. We made it our mission to go to the front. We managed to make it to the front right corner as we kept observing a water bottle going with the bass. My friends have seen Snails before but this particular moment was the very first time I saw Snails for more than 5 minutes.
Snails performed a lot of my favorites such as Frogbass, The King Is Back and some various Mixes from his SNAILEDIT. Being able to headbang to Snails was one of the most iconic moments for me. His sound pushes boundaries and is not duplicated or modeled from any other producer. Snails was a 10/10 for me.
Later that night, I had the pleasure to meet Snails. He stayed after the show to meet all of his fans patiently stayed after the show. You could tell by the way his fans are with him how much of a loving, caring soul he is.
#MamaSnails
One of the many highlights of the show was that his mother came to support him by coming. She came all the way from Montreal to see how much of an impact he’s made on his fan base. Give some love for #MamaSnails.
