Hello West Coast…
I never thought a person like myself would attend a festival on the West Coast; let alone being there working press. Like other festivals, Decadence is one that I will never forget. From being able to see Skrillex and Porter Robinson, this festival was pretty different. What makes this festival so different than the rest?
Besides the chilly weather conditions, the people there were something different. It’s kind of strange to be in a region where you and your sister are surrounded by thousands of locals. At the same time, it was interesting to see the interaction in the West Coast as opposed to the East. It’s funny how the crowd at a rave can affect your experience, even if it’s your favorite artist.
The Experience
Being able to experience my first West Coast Festival was fantastic! The vibes at Decadence Arizona was way different than a New York show. I traveled alongside with my sister who put me on the team for EDMDAYCARE. Being able to share the experience with her and being apart of press was an amazing experience. From the designated Pollen area to us rocking out, it was a good time.
There weren’t a lot of people from the east coast which didn’t surprise me. We ran into some people from the East Coast, which turned into people we still talk to today. And you know you’re going to be lifelong friends when he has a universe tuxedo on.
Top Two Sets Skrillex And Porter Robinson
The festival was relatively large that sometimes, it as impossible to move. Despite that, you could tell everyone was there for the same reason. The lineup was fully stacked with artists that I’ve been dying to see. Skrillex and Porter Robinson, I’ve been waiting so long to see them both since entering the scene.
Skrillex @ Decadence Arizona

I never thought I could experience seeing my all-time favorites in one festival.
When Skrillex performed, it was all I expected. My crew and I got a chance to be in the middle and he dropped some new material. Some of my favorite songs he dropped were Jungle Bae, Breakn’ A Sweat, and Make It Bun Dem. You could see how many people were excited to see Skrillex after his hiatus from performing. Despite the space being limited, it was amazing fulfilling my dream, seeing Skrillex.
Porter Robinson @ Decadence Arizona

Porter Robinson was hands down my favorite set of the festival. He’s my ultimate favorite artist and is a visionary. I saw him perform his side project Virtual Self at Electric Zoo and that was something that always stayed with me. His music resonates with me on an emotional level. When he dropped Fresh Static Show, it was a done deal for me. He was truly everything I expected.
Skrillex and Porter Robinson was a perfect was a dream.
Overall…

The amazing part of Decadence Arizona was bringing the new year with NGHTMRE and Dj Disel. I missed him at Lost Lands and being apart of that moment was the perfect ending of Decadence.
Despite the negativity other outlets touched on, I wanted to focus more on the positives instead of the negatives. We couldn’t control the weather and how people are going to act. The most important thing was that the people we met was what made it worth it. And a special shout out to Relentless Beats for letting us be apart of Decadence Arizona as press. EDM Daycare is all about the ground experience and connecting with people from all backgrounds. We couldn’t thank you guys enough!
Until next time, AJ
